I agree and I think suicide happens for many reasons. We all need to be more aware and educated on the signs so that one could intervene before a tragedy like suicide occurs. Whether it’s depression, feeling loneliness/helpless, not confident, etc. the suicide rate is increasing and we as a society to need understand why and take appropriate action. Submitted by Allan.
I agree that we need to be more educated about teen suicide. I think everyone should be educated on methods for helping suicidal teens. People need to be made aware of the challenges teens face today and how stressful life can be at times. People of all ages also need to be made aware of the fact that their words can be hurtful and may inspire teens to commit suicide.
I comepletely agree with your thesis. Although it is sometimes depressing and hard to talk about such sad topics, it is important that young people are informed about it at a young age to help prevent it. Veronica.
I can agree with this, it's straight forward and makes sense. We can't change the way people think unless we provide them with the proper tools to do so. -Jennifer
I agree with this. It will be hard for people to deal with their feelings when they are depressed. However, I think that if they are educated about this problem, they will know what they should do and how to deal with these feeling, or at least control themselves from suicide.
I agree. Education is the key to resolve many issues including teen suicide. Parents and kids need education and support to deal with emotional problems.
I agree with this statement. It is very important that teens be educated on suicide. Educating gives them a chance to feel open to discussing how they're feeling and get help/support.
I agree, but educated in what? There's so many influential factors that affect suicides. It will be hard to address suicide with programs about what to do if you feel suicidal, or thinking about suicide, etc. This is more prevention. Addressing suicide takes more than preventing it. Really interested in this topic though, I'm sure your next speech will turn out great.
I agree with your thesis. I guess people just don't want to accept the fact that everyone around the teen should be held responsible for his/her suicide so they never tend to address the problem directly. Another reason may be that for the close family and friends, it's too painful to go through it all again and for people who know the teen but are not close, they just don't think it's a problem they have to deal with. - Noreen
Great topic! Educated about what? the dangers of suicide? how to prevent it? how many people it really affects? Just some immediate questions that came to me that others would probably share and may help you:) -naomi
I totally agree with your thesis. Thinking back, I didn't understand or know what suicide was when I was younger. I believe that if younger children were educated on the subject, we would have fewer teen suicides. - Jamie
I agree that education is probably the biggest way to address teen suicides. Somehow, we need to let people know that there are always a way out and that there are help!
I agree, I think becoming more educated about what issues cause teens to feel this way would be a huge advantage to helping them feel loved and needed by the world. -Anna
Are we talking educated about the causes? About the signs? About the aftermath? Compelling topic, requires skillful handling, best of luck on following up a great first speach.
