Nuri's thesis

All states must implement requirements from the Blueprint for Reform in schools.

  1. I agree that reform is needed on the No Child Left Behind Act. Teachers should not be protected just because of their tenure status. If students are falling behind in certain school districts, administrators and teachers should be held accountable. Submitted by Allan.

  2. I agree to a point. I like the changes that the blueprint has brought fourth but I do look forward to less standardize testing emphasis within the classroom.

  3. I agree completely! Teachers are spending more time on research to attain tenure as opposed to focusing on their classes and students. Higher education is at risk

  5. I agree that it might be a good thing to implement the requirements from the Blueprint for Reform in schools. However, I do not believe that teachers should be held responsible for a student’s readiness for future academics. I have observed that some students do not want to learn and that is not the sign of a bad teacher. Teachers can’t make a student learn.

  6. Yes, teachers should spend more time with the students and trying to teach the students the material they should know rather then researching for there tenure..... Brianna

  7. I agree with this statement because there needs to be a reform on the No Child Left Behind act. But I don't think that teacher's should be responsible for students grades and such. VM.

  8. I agree, our school system is in major trouble. I think there are three parties responsible for a childs sucess in school; The teacher, the parents/s and the child. Each should be held responsible to do their part to ensure that the child recieves the quality education they deserve. I also this they should get rid of tenure, it only incentive for a teacher to not have to work as hard. You should maintain a job by working hard and by your classes results.

  9. I agree with Jen that there are 3 parties: teacher, parents and student are responsible in issue. I also think that teachers should know their responsibility and how it impacts on students' future. I experienced that when I took my first English class, and my teacher didnt seem like he cared for me at all. He simply came to class, started talking about whatever he was interested, and never hit the points or the questions. The quizzes were take-home quiz, and they were graded by other classmates. I noticed many students in class did not do the quiz and wait till teacher asked to exchange paper and gave the right answers, then they corrected themselves. I think it should not happen and student should pay more attention on their studying too.

  11. I agree that teachers do need to spend more time with and value their students. The blueprint for reform includes very important requirements. However a teacher cannot force a student to want to learn therefore they do not have complete control over the knowledge a student obtains.

  12. Education is a subkect that needs attention. We are falling behind comparative to other countries. This is not okay, and the blueprint for reform wil aid the Us in solving this issue. You may want to dive deeper into the issue and find out what problems we are facing implementing the plan. Great topic though!

  13. I agree yet I also disagree. There are teachers that definitely abuse their protection yet being a student who went to a rowdy school with many kids who flunked classes or failed out of school. In half the cases I saw, it truly was the child's fault, who deliberately did not make an effort to pass. Excited to see the different sides of the argument you speak about!

  14. I think teachers should be held responsible for their students' results. The class's result may depend on the effort students put in. That being said, I believe the teacher's teaching does make a difference and the results is one of the very few areas where we can evaluate that. - Noreen

  15. A teacher can not control whether or not a student wants to learn and pay attention to what they have to say. I do think that teachers could put in more of an effort. Coming from a school where you could see that they did not want to be there everyday and really didnt care if you passed their class or not. I think that the teachers attitude towards what they are teaching most definitely has a major effect on many things that go on in their classroom

  17. Along with what Naomi said, the wording is a bit confusing. However, I do agree that something needs to be done on this issue. American schools are falling behing compare to other countries. However, teachers shouldn't be held completely responsible for how their students perform on standardized tests. - Jamie
