Shuntaro's thesis

We should not use nuclear power.

  1. I agree there are many other sources of energy that are safer, even though nuclear power is a very clean source of energy; it is at the same time very dangerous. We all witnessed what happened in Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami.... Arshin

  2. i agree nuclear power is dangerous and could be very harmful in the future even if it is a clean efficient source of energy. There are other alternatives like windmills and solar panels that we could us instead....Brianna

  3. After your speech I feel a little bit more informed on what the differences in power sources are and the good and the bad. With that said, I still dont know enough to say if we should or should not use the nuclear power plants; though it does scare me knowing the risks of radiation. I'm looking forwards to hearing more!

  4. I think the use of nuclear power should still be considered an option. Eventually the world WILL start to run out of oil. Solar power, wind power, and hydro power added all together still would not be as efficient as oil is, so we must continue to search and consider alternate methods of energy. Submitted by Spencer

  5. I agree that we should not use nuclear power but I agree that it is more of an opinion. The risks of radiation happenening are scary so you should use that in your next speech. I am excited to hear more! VM.

  6. I agree that we should not use nuclear power. I personally am a huge fan of wind turbines and solar panels. There are a ton of wind turbines in the Midwest and they are amazing to see.

  7. I agree, nuclear power's risks out weigh it's benefits.Japan is a prime example of this, very sad. -Jennifer

  8. I agree. nuclear power is the least expensive way to provide energy but there are so many risks that can occur that can bring more harm than good.

  9. I agree, nuclear power is the most dangerous reason which can cause the increase of deaths and illness. I think we should stop using it

  10. I agree that nuclear power should not be used. After hearing you talk about the negative effects of nuclear power (especially what happened after disasters in Japan) it is obvious that it is dangerous and not worth it.

  11. Being such a efficient source of energy, nuclear power will not be overlooked by everyone. I think the best possible solution to nuclear power is to set strict safety regulations on operating plants. I look forward to what you have to say about this topic!

  12. I agree that we should not use nuclear power because the drawback of the failure of such power source is too huge. It is too much of a risk to bear. - Noreen

  13. I am still undecided. I am definitely concerned with the radiation risk especially after what happened in Japan, but on the flip side I want to hear your perspective on the advantages of why nuclear power plants are important. Plants do provide clean air, but there are other sources that provide this advantage and that have reduced risk. Submitted by Allan.

  14. I agree, my mom was a victim of a radiation accident and Im not a fan of all the risks it causes yet is a very likely option that many might choose if it comes to that.

  16. Great! I would be curious to here when compared to other sources of power, where Nuclear Power stands. For example, IF Nuclea power ceases, what difference would it make? would we miss it? Is it realistic?

  17. I agree with this thesis because I personally believe nuclear power is too dangerous and there is no need for it. I'm excited to hear your reasons why! - Jamie

  18. Nuclear power is cleaner than coal...but more dangerous, what's your reason?

  19. I agree, Nuclear power is dangerous, especially when there is a disaster like there was in Japan. However with the pros to nuclear power how can we generate as much energy without the plants? -Anna

  20. I am unsure because nuclear power is an efficient way to produce energy, but it also produce dangerous nuclear waste and radition. In time of a natural catastrophe, nuclear plant pose great danger of radiation leaks. So this issue can be measured in term of cost and benefit.

  21. Yes, it is too risky. Earthquake or terrorist attack may convert that "beneficial" technology into catastrophe.
