We should donate our teeth to science and bank our children's teeth stem cells for future use.

  1. I am not sure where I stand on this issue and will look to you to persuade me to your side. I have children and am a little skeptical about donating their teeth to science when I am not sure there are controls in place to maintain credibility, privacy, etc. Submitted by Allan.

  3. I’m not exactly sure about this issue, however, if teeth can be used to cure an illness, or save a life, then I think we should donate our teeth to science.

  6. I am not sure. It seems to require too much of a commitment and investment.

  7. I agree. I think it's a great idea, why not? It's not like you even have to pay for it if you are just donating your kids baby teeth. What are you going to do with them? Give them to the tooth fairy? lol -Jennifer

  9. I agree with donating teeth. Banking however is a very expensive option. If there was a way to include teeth banking as a part of a health insurance cost that is optional I think it would be more easily accessible and widely used. Submitted by Jessica

  10. I agree with donating teeth for future use, it can be very beneficial and I do not see a downfall. However I believe that it should be optional and not required.

  11. Of course we should! There isn't much agreement here!

  12. I agree, this is a much better solution in getting stem cells instead of taking bone marrow, or like I learned in Biology last year was taking it from the cerebellum. This is a much safer process and is for a very good cause! Great topic!

  13. I generally agree with your thesis. I just need to be persuaded when it comes down to the cost of banking baby teeth. You informed us that this way of storing stem cells is very costly and I am not sure if that is not the only way out there to achieve the same ultimate result, why do we have to pick the pricier method. - Noreen

  14. I don't really know where I stand on this... It's a topic I have never really heard be discussed. Working with children daily and their families I'm not sure how the parents would feel about donating their children's teeth to science. I agree with Sarah that this should not be something that is required.

  17. I think this topic is very interesting and unharmful. However, I'm not sure where I stand. Maybe if this "banking" was cheaper? I think it costs too much for families to have their childrens teeth donated. - Jamie

  18. What would the teeth do for research? What about skin or hair? Maybe we can have a national tooth fairy foundation...

  20. If donation is not being compelled by the government then I am okay with persuasion towards donation.
