I agree. Our teachers should be the highest paid and most recognized job in our society. They are teaching our youth and shaping their lives and who these kids are going to be. By not paying them appropriately, respecting their thoughts on issues, and/or further educating them we are risking our youth to be uninformed about the world’s history and where we as a people are going to end up in the future. In my point of view, I agree that US Government should know the important role of teachers on our next generations. Because of the downturn of economy, many funds have been cut off, state and school run out of money. As the result, the teacher's salaries are also cut off. Many teachers seem to lose their interest on teaching, and simply pay attention on earning money. The lack of understanding and experiences may lead our next generations into wrong doings. I think Us government should pay more attention on that because it may cause negative impacts on either our next generations or our society in the future.
I agree that teachers must be protected. Teaching is an important job and the United States should not take it lightly. Most of us are what we are today because of our teachers. If good teachers are respected, and given the appropriate resources, education could improve.
teachers are often blamed for a students behaviors or failures and i don't think that is right teachers should be protected and not held accountable for the actions of students only for there own.... Brianna
I agree to an extent on this topic. Yes, teachers are often blamed for kids academic failures. But sometimes the teachers aren't very good and can't connect with the younger generation so maybe that isn't a good profession for them. I will need to be persuaded on this topic. Veronica.
I am not sure. I think teachers deserve to have some protection from being fired but I think some teachers take advantage of things that give them that, such as tenure, and don't work as hard as they should when they get it.
I'm not sure I agree. I think if your a good teacher and your students are learning then you will be protected. If your students aren't learning, than obviously you are doing something wrong. I understand some students will make the decsion to not apply themselves but for the most part your students should be meeting national standards. Either you want to teach or you dont. There are too many teachers who have no business being teacher. They need to go away and not waste their time or the students time. I speak for experience, I've had a few teachers over the years that were horrible. -Jennifer
I agree. We should protect our teachers. Beside passion for teaching, we should provide other incentives for student to want to become teachers. Protecting teachers and importing education system is vital.
I do not know if I agree with this statement because I do not understand what you mean by protecting our teachers. How do we go about doing this? I do know that teachers do not receive as much credit, appreciation and acknowledgement as they should. Without teachers where would we be?
I love the stand your taking on this. Thanks for doing your speech on a topic that is required for my future employment and the growth of the United States education.
I do agree with this, but only if the teacher is actually a good teacher who truly cares for the education of America's students. There are those who, yes are qualified, but don't actually care much for the students. And it would be sad if they lost their jobs considering where our economy is today, but maybe they could have better testing in order to become teacher? Such as genuine care or teaching? Hoping you might address this in your speech. Monika
I am not sure if I agree with your thesis or not. There are many ways to improve education and while teachers should be protected, their incentive to work hard is more or less reduced because of that kind of protection. - Noreen
I don't know where I stand on this statement. I think I'm confused what our teachers need to be protected from? I had teachers in high school that shouldn't be teaching and got to keep their jobs because of their seniority, over AMAZING teachers that were let go due to budget cuts. - Jamie
I agree with you more the most part, i think there is different ways of doing this, but i also think that not all teachers deserve to be protected because there are such things as bad teachers who don't really care to help students who are direly struggling, but i feel that there is a larger percentage of teachers who do care and they should be protected.-Anna
On the surface this sounds good, but I am not for protecting a teacher that doesn't deserve it. If the teachers goal is to make sure that the student can read, write, do math, etc., then good. If the teacher thinks that they need to stick their noses in to family stuff then I don't want them having protection. Also, I used to coach football at a high school and the apathy I saw from teachers was so discouraging. If they are to be "protected" and recieve higher pay then there needs to be gauges in place to be sure that the proper teachers are recieving the protection.
