Monika's thesis

We need to recognize that with the increase in social media and technology, people are becoming more rude.

  1. I agree that people are becoming increasingly abrupt, less patient and not as polite. I feel that social media is playing a significant role in society and we need to have better control and measures in place while at the same time people need to slow down and enjoy what life has to offer. 2. I agree that social media has changed people's point of view toward life and become more rude and materialistic. I think everyone also agree that how much some social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter shape people's lives. People spend almost all the times on Facebook. We all see how much our life have been changed via social media and technology. However, It is hard to change anything, but just aware the dangerous of its effects on people's lives.

  3. I agree that we need to recognize that social media and technology are making people more rude. It has become a requirement for people to know how to use technology and is unfortunate that respect has not come with our greater understating. Technology can be used for good and people need to remember this and not abuse it.

  5. I agree that we need to acknolede this problem more I work in retail and when I greet people they have never been more rude. When I greet people when they come in they don't even reply to my hello, they continue texting. Something needs to be done. Veronica.

  6. I agree. I miss receiving telephone calls and hand written letters. Many resort to text messaging and using facebook to communicate.

  7. I agree, but what do we do about it? So many people dont know how to communicate unless they are texting or emailing. This has caused a big disconnect in our society, we need to bring this attention to this issue. I'm glad you choose it. -Jennifer

  8. I agree that technology and social media impacted our people skills. We defiantly spend less time with face to face interaction with our friends and family which can significantly affect our communication skills in these settings.

  9. Its hard for me to say that I think its responsible for people becoming rude. I think that it is however a barrier that makes it easier to treat someone differently than we would face to face.

  10. I definitely agree with this statement. It is easier to say something rude to someone else when you are not face to face. However I cannot think of an effective solution that will solve this problem.

  11. I completely agree. There are many different reasons why this is, and I really look forward to discussing this in person with you.

  12. I am not sure if I agree with your thesis or not. It is true that some people get more aggressive and rude with the rising prevalence of social media and technology, but there are also some very nice things done with the help of the social media. I don't know if you have heard of it before, but I have seen, more than once, cases of successfully prevented suicides with the help of Facebook and other social medias. I think it would be nice if you can look into those cases for a counterargument. - Noreen

  13. I agree but I also think that times are changing and so are social norms... More people are becoming OK with the way people are using their social media and technology... So do we adapt ? Or find a way to change that?

  14. THis is hard to measure..make sure to define "rude" and compare it to "nice" perhaps. Also is it really more tv that causes that?

  16. I agree with this statement. However, what happens after people recognize this? What is the purpose?

  17. More rude=more honesty? Are people just becoming more sensitive? We ask for honesty but get offended by it.

  18. I agree and disagree with this statement. I do think that with the media access we have people are becoming more rude and interruptive with their electronics when they shouldnt be, however i agree with jenny's statement of people asking for honestly and then becoming offended by the truth.-Anna

  19. I am unsure to the issue. Can a person change his or her personality because of the social media and technology? Duc
