Nico's thesis

In order to stabilize the US economy, the middle class needs support. (The best way to approach this is to reform the tax code OR address union rights OR address globalization).

  1. I agree the middle class is losing ground and it’s becoming harder and harder for these people to meet basic needs. Due to job loss and the home lending industry the middle class has seen the largest impact in their overall financial stability and are struggling to keep up with their bills. Submitted by Allan.

  2. I agree that the middle class needs support. If something isn’t done soon, in a few years the middle class will be reduced to nothing. Some of my friends who once considered themselves to be middle class are not anymore, because of the economic situation.

  3. I agree that the middle class needs more attention. Something definitely needs to be done because the middle class isn't in such a good financial state currently. VM.

  5. The middle class is shrinking everyday, it's getting harder and harder for the average person to stay on top of all their bills. I'm not sure what the answer is, I know we need more creation of jobs. I think reforming our tax code would be another good idea for sure.

  6. I agree that middle class need help from Government. Because of the downturn of economy, it is hard for them to deal with bills and even to provide themselves basic needs. However, in order to find a good solution for that, I would consider all the things you mention, I think each of them will help middle class in another aspect.

  7. I agree. Those countries with prosperous middle class will have stronger Economy. Globalization definitely need to be addressed. The domestic manufactures that employ many of U.S middle class families need support to be able to compete with foreign manufacturers who produces and export cheaper goods. Off-shoring millions of U.S jobs to other countries need to be addresses as well.

  8. I agree that the middle class needs support because of the current state of the economy. I would say the best solution to this is addressing globalization. I have read many articles focused on globalization for my anthropology class and one of the main solutions I have found to be suggested is to acknowledge globalization.

  9. From what you told me in class I can say I agree yet I am still a little fuzzy on exactly what it is that is going on. But this is a very good topic that fits most of America.

  10. I agree that the middle class needs more support to get through the harsh economy we are going through now. I think reforming the tax code will be one of the more effective ways to bring closer the wealth gap. - Noreen

  12. I like your first sentence! Your choice of HOW this should be done is what is tricky for you. I suggest an approach where other classes are belittled as usually this is what politicians sometimes do. Maybe just suggesting MORE financial aid for those under 200k a year? (since this is what seperate the wealthy class from the middle class)
    Just an idea :)

  13. I agree with this statement, especially from the perspective as being a part of the middle class myself. It seems as though the middle class is kind of neglected almost. I'm excited to hear your reasons why! - Jamie

  14. I agree that middle class needs supports, but I don't know the opposite opinion. I think people in every levels absolutely need supports when government do support.
so do you mean that government should support middle class? Shuntaro

  15. Yes, reforming the tax code would be one of the ways to support the middle class. How would this affect the upper and lower class?

  16. I agree completely, and give an AMEN to this claim. however i think that deciding on the best way possible to do this will be the challenging part of your speech to persuade us with. -Anna

  17. I agree that the middle class need supports. I think lower the minimum wage would aslo helps the middle class because this would increase the employment opportunity. Businesses are willing to hire at a lower wage than at a higher wage. Employments would increase productivity which is the key to expand the economy. Duc

  18. I doubt you'll get much disagreement on your main thought about the middle class, so definetly focus on the possible methods of strengthening. I agree with you on the tax code restructuring but am not very familiar with the globalization matters.
